Handwashing is really essential right now as we try and prevent the spread of viruses. I’m going to give you a couple of very quick tips on how to prevent dry and chapped skin A lot of our patients are calling and telling us “We’re washing our hands so frequently, we’re using hand sanitizers our skin is getting really dry, and it’s getting chapped and there are cracks in the skin. There are a couple of simple tips you can do to make that better for you. Number 1: Don’t use really hot water when you wash your hands. Use lukewarm water because hot water has a tendency to dry your skin. The other very simple tip is: Moisturize your hands after you wash them. My hands are still moist from washing them right now That’s the perfect time to use a moisturizer because what you want to do is, you want a moisturizer to lock in the hydration that you got from washing. Not to put on on dry skin because if you put it on dry skin you are not going to get a lot of moisturizing. Those are a couple simple tips to keep you healthy and your hands looking good while we go through this time.
