The Science of Yoga (Part 4 – Diet)

what could ancient Yogi’s possibly tell us about diet and bodily health welcome to the science of yoga part 4 well through diligent observations they had deep insights into our inner workings so let’s take a look at what they found they posited that in all of our bodies there exists a fire a transformative power called Agni and whatever we eat goes through our system and gets consumed by Agni Agni breaks it down and transforms the food into a finer substance called ojas that can then be used to build up the body but this only happens to the extent the food you eat is pure when impure or harmful food is consumed it’s slightly different the fire or Agni struggles and has to work harder to break it down it can only produce a small amount of ojas and an additional substance called Amma Amma being on tapped food is not good news according to Ayurveda hammer is a big reason for all of our health problems it essentially clogs the body up and blocks the flow of prana deep tissues nerve channels and major organs are places Amma can end up being deposited but one place it finds it really easy to hide in his fat cells are finds it easy to stay in body fat and Western science in parallel has found that body fat can Harbor toxins Amma creates a biochemical environment in the body that breathes errant emotions in the previous video we used the analogy of a dopamine monster well they love these kind of conditions and deposit themselves in several parts of the body they also stimulate cravings for further junk food so the whole thing can South propagate and grow it can become a vicious cycle clearly food and emotional state are profoundly connected the fire will try its best to burn up Amer and given enough time it will do it but if it’s consistently bombarded with the wrong kind of diet it will get exhausted the fire will get weaker and weaker one primary way to reverse it is to change the diet and give the fire of agni time to restore itself to full health so we mentioned that the quality of foods affects Agni greatly well the Yogi’s divided food into three groups sattva Rajas and Tamas sattvic is the most conducive to yogic and bodily balance but in today’s society it’s a challenge to not fall into Temasek food fast food and ready-made stuff fall into this category they all damage the fire ultimately our bodily intuition will know what category of food falls into and will guide us so here are several things that the Yogi’s found affect Agni tamasic food creates Amma which can overburden the fire eating too much food in general overburdens the fire eating too little can cause the fire to dwindle and weaken wrong posture while eating can compromise the fire working properly probiotic foods are said to strengthen Agni wrong food combinations can do the same so you have to experiment to be sure it’s possible that for some grains are unhealthy and can overburden the system see the Chinese big ood diet all of these can create the aforementioned conditions often the bodily intelligence will inform us as to the effect of a food we call this precious faculty instinct have you ever seen an overweight cow a depressed rhino no these creatures are running on instinct and are largely free of emotional input it’s only humans that have emotional cravings so as well as our natural instinct as to what is good and healthy we also have this figurative monster which craves what it desires people say their eating disorders seem to be run by demons in a sense that’s probably true but the more we can break this bond we will naturally invigorate the fire of Agni and the inner conditions would be more conducive to a yogic state of mind subscribe to info Nausicaa to get regular updates to enlighten you and your family join our community while you’re here until next time Padawans

And I want to know so much that this channel's from India or from somewhere else?

  8. please make a video on "what to eat to get a yogic mind" ..

  9. I thought he said agony ….after a while I realized he's actually saying Agni ….but thanks for the information….keep up the good work 🙂

  10. I didn't like the background voice 😑

  11. I love these videos. Thank you.

  14. Please we need this keep it going for god sake!,dont see how much response u gettin jusg see how many sleeping hindus and new members of this vedic brilliance are awakening

  15. Finally.

  16. These videos are simply awesome! 🙂

  17. man! Love ur vids…

  18. This is SO awesome, loves this little videos! packed with info, thanks!

  19. Can you put the Patreon link in the description please? I can't click it in the video on phone.
Good work deserves to be appreciated.

  20. Let's make the Yogi brown 🙂

  21. One more common saying, you feel what you eat. (Jaisa anna, waisa man). Your State of mind changes based on what you eat. Red meat will make you aggressive, fruits will calm. And so on.

  22. You have pictured eggs into sattvic food. Either correct it or explain it.

  23. Concise, Balanced and Non Preachy. Love these Videos!

  24. This is amazing. Basically we have to listen to our body

  25. If only humans have emotional cravings how do you explain overweighted cats&dogs ? Cos I've seen plenty

  26. very good explanation..

  27. I am quite sure sattvic foods doesn't include eggs. Other than that Great video

  28. Human body is an accumulation of five elements space air fire water and earth which gives rise to 3 dosha ie vata pitta kapha which is composed of six tastes sweet sour salty pungent bitter astringent in this sour salt pungent increases pitta which has agni in it so taste influences hugely on the mind and body where vegetarian is satvik and non vegetarian is tamasic so so much is written in indian science long back thousands of years ago ☺

  29. Eggs are not Satvik they are Tamsik, if anyone's wondering. Video illustrated them incorrectly. Since ancient times indian Yogies have considered any non-vegetarian food Tamasik and food of Rakshasa and eggs are considered non-veg since ancient times.

You cannot compare them with cow milk as they are just "taken" from chickens just like milk. It is like taking an undeveloped child out of mothers womb and consuming it. Milk doesn't develop and grow to be Cow, Goat or Human for that matter.

  30. so if you drink petrol your body will explode due to agni.
    jk nice video

  31. The ancient Ayurvedic criteria for food to be considered Sattvic were foods were grown organically on good rich fertile soil. Sattvic food should be grown without pesticides, chemical fertilisers, sprays, insecticides,  hormones or anything unnatural. Are we getting such food? In Ancient times egg is considered to be non vegetarian. But now, there has been lot of controversy about it especially in western countries. Excellent Video. Good info

  32. Food prepared with lots of love will add to their sattvic quality

  33. Nice presentation … And ojas is not first thing(dhatu in traditional ayurvedic term) to be produced , it is the last..

  34. I'd be interested on watching vids on all the different types of yoga.

  35. Amazing videos, thanks for ur job

  36. Just go vegan

  37. Animals have emotional eating , also emotion to, and bad food craving. Animals can suffer of cancer and overweight .Try to feed a sheep corn or bread, she we'll go crazy for it, even if is making here sick. Its funny how we make philosophies about us thinking that we are so important, while we have no specific role or importance on this planet.

  38. Unfortunately everytime I go vegan, I get digestive issues. My bowel movement is great but I get bloating, heartburns, ibs. So now instead of following a diet because thats what everybody says to be healthy, I now listen to my body. I eat eggs in the morning and have noticed a huge improvment with my gut issues. I juice vegetables and eat less pork and chicken.

  39. Western countries are so busy to make everything logical and scientific that they now realised Yoga is one of biggest Human mind n body science.. instead of spreading Junk food to all parts of world now its time for good food spreadout.

  40. Great work !! Thanks!!

  41. Thanks guys, with regards particular foods, who can know for sure which category they belong in?
Only the body can know whats good for it and whats
not…just because some dude said it 1500 years ago does it mean its the absolute truth?
If you just ate vegetables and fruits and nothing else, are you going to be healthy?
And if you eat 'food X' does it mean you're bad?

  42. U r doing a great job sir!

  43. it gets better in its message as you listen more…

  44. Thanks for this beautiful and insightful videos.

  45. What about cats and dogs? These animals can get really fat in comparison with cows. Why you don't mention that?

  46. Very helpful. Thank you

  47. How to remove ama

  48. Eggs are not Sattvic. Eggs are no good. Meat and diary are also bad news.

  49. Did you show eggs in Sattavik !!?! What is wrong with people convoluted understanding , food dosent translate in to ojus , veerya does if harnessed by yogic ways , this video is junk nd good for confusing the already confused people , at stop attributing it to yogis as they never said what you are saying here

  50. Wow What a great  message. convinced

  51. I think a did fairly good job summerizing the prefered diet for yogis. Eating clean prevents detox effects during the asana practice, that's my experience anyway.

  52. the triggered rhino gave me a chuckle

  53. Non-veg consider as tamasic food

  54. My dog has emotional cravings to throw the ball.he is an addict.should i teach him to meditate?

  55. dislike bc for the image of depressed you put a picture of a bull with a sign that said triggered. not only is that dumb, but its also stupid

  56. Triggered Rhino was amazing 😂

  57. where's the science though?

  58. They showed egg as a Sattvic food, wtf??

  59. no there was a dog near by my house who always loved cream biscuits.

  60. Eggs aren't Sattvic…

  61. But pizza doesn't have to be bad. We here have very healthy ones, especially the vegetarian pizza's.

  62. aren't most cows overweight???

  63. I've seen overweight cats. Oh boy… humans.

  64. Vegan diet please. 💚

  65. SJW rhino! 😂 😂😂Fucking dead…

  66. Narrated by Peter Dinklage ??

  67. Where's the science?

  68. Triggered jokes aren’t funny and it just came out of nowhere, serving no purpose but to belittle people who are struggling. You’re better than that.

  69. I watched this video again  .Amazing  THANK YOU

  70. WTF kind of pseudoscience bullshit is this. I love yoga, but everything in this video series is completely made up by a bunch of ancient mystics who had no conception of modern science.

  71. Where's the science though?

  72. Tq ….

  73. I think you could have related the science to yoga more. A general "toxins" in fat doesn't really give people much help. The fire analogy is fined but failed to be related to the science. You could have mentioned the science of gut bacteria influencing our health and cravings. You could call those bacteria your monsters.

  74. Are there any scientific proof for agni.

  75. it's URJA not OJAS
URJA means the energy in the body, basically produced from the food we eat.

  76. Can you upload these vision in hindi . It would more for me and other's.

  77. 💐🙏😇🕉💖

  78. If you are non Indian… 0:23 he says AGNI not AGONY

  79. Subscribe for a male perspective on human health 😂

  80. "Have you ever seen an overweight cow?" Yes

  81. Ojas means nutrients
    Ama means cholesterol
Agni means the power of digestion

  82. Basically agni is being used as a word for metabolism concept it resembles that alot.

  83. This is the best advice I’ve heard about food and diet ever! Sometimes it’s difficult to just listen to our bodies when it comes to food, and I’m struggling with an obsession for what I eat or what I should eat. But, yes, I know, I have to listen to my body. Your words are just what I needed , recently I have found this course of yoga burning diet , it was amazing and the result was great and I advice your follower to take it ..THANK YOU

  84. Also animals can have emotional cravings. We had to leave first our pets behind when we moved from one country to another. In that year they were taking care of a cousin. Only one of our pets did not get along with the other pets in the house. So she kept our pets in her room. Now one of our cats has a weight problem and at nights miause a lot. She'd eat also our other cat's food. She doesn't like to be left alone. So, I'd say: pets can also have emotional cravings.

Science should check that out too 😉

  85. Watching this while having watermelon

  86. It’s pronounce( Udge NI) not agony

  87. Eggs aren’t healthy, they’re just as bad as pizza is

  88. if you want true spirituality go to Hare Krishnas. this people are true saints they never eat meat, never drink or smoke, get up before 4 a.m. in the morning and even have sex only to give birth to children. And they use all their money to print books and serve free feasts for everyone.

  89. Aspiring yogi

  90. I was on board until you claimed animals like cows do not have emotions.

    What a load of crap!

Cows are very emotional & strongly bonded to their calves, when they lose them they cry just as we do.

  91. The depressed rhino was kinda a bad example as rhinos are notorious for being depressed, especially when they become separated. Still loved the video though!

  92. Lmao the triggered rhino

  93. 👍👍

  94. What an amazing video, thank you for the great information.

  95. It's only humans who have emotional cravings?….uhhhhh, no…

  96. Eggs is not considered part of the sattvik food category.

  97. oh, i already subscribed the other day. good for me!!goodforme!
