hey what's up YouTube it's Christine with gauge girl training and online meal planning a coaching service and today I'm going to talk about having a healthy relationship with food so let's get started so first things first if you are not following me on Instagram follow me at gage girl training I will be popping on at least once a day to engage with you guys to answer nutrition science questions and if you want to catch me live ask me a question please follow me on Instagram again it's at gage while training so I found this I found this thing online somewhere I remember where I found it and it says you know what's healthier than kale having a good relationship with food and I wanted to talk about that because I think that you can have a grocery cart full of the most organic fancy foods you can order all the fancy stuff online you can have an insta pot you could have a crock pot your kitchen could look like a combination of williams-sonoma meats Whole Foods and all of that doesn't matter if you don't have a healthy relationship with food and I am all about nurturing a healthy relationship with food and you guys know that I follow a macros based approach because I believe that there is a lot of value in knowing the science of which direction to take your body the problem with social media is that a lot of people think that looking good is the goal and just because you look good does not mean you have a healthy relationship with food conversely just because you post the the nicest food photography photos that doesn't mean you have a healthy relationship with food either the thing is it's like there's two extremes right there's the one extreme where you just live in fear of food you're paralyzed by food you're afraid to make any decision because you don't want to gain weight you don't want to get fat you don't want to like you are just overly obsessive it drives you crazy and you you may look good but like you have a very love hate in ship with food where you either like go overboard or you either limit yourself excessively that's not good and the thing is you guys no amount of shame no amount of guilt is going to improve you being healthy is a start turn the inside it starts in your mind it starts when you make the decision that you want to eat healthy because you love yourself you want to nourish your body because you love yourself you want to choose to feel strong and healthy and that doesn't magically happen you're not all of a sudden good or you're not all of a sudden healthy just because you look good you can have a healthy relationship with food to the moment the moment you decide you know what I want to choose better behaviors I want to choose better habits and you can love yourself today you do you no longer need to feel like you know what I'm going to be happy when I look like how I used to look in this selfie when I was in college or you know what I'm only gonna be happy when I look like I looked in this photo and me and my husband started dating no you can love yourself and have a healthy relationship with food starting today the reality is it starts from your mind it starts from your mind it starts about having healthy habits healthy behaviors choosing those things and then with time your body is going to manifest that the some of your choices the some of your behaviors but if you are one of those people that's just living in this fear and you're paralyzed and I don't care how many avocado toasts you eat or how many healthy foods you have in your cart it's not about that it's about loving food look having it nourish you not living in fear of it and enjoying life you guys there's so much to be said for balance and I always want to counter every sciency video I do with something to bring you guys back into reality of how to live this life because it doesn't matter matter how much science I throw at you if you can't actively engage in this and live it and love yourself you guys love yourself today don't feel shitty about yourself don't feel bad about yourself you can be fulfilled and love your body today you guys you have one body you have one life why why why why on earth would you want to spend the next three months six months nine months twelve months of your life feeling like about yourself like why why would you do that why would you intentionally do that food is not intended to make you feel like crap it's intended to make you feel good I want to address all that loathing all that negative energy because that is not going to help you reach your goals and for those of you who look good who take a good selfie there is nothing wrong with looking good but just because you look good it does not mean you have a healthy relationship with food either I really want to encourage you guys to not worry about comparing yourself to everybody like I think there's nothing wrong with having an attractive figure there's nothing wrong with being proud of your body nothing wrong with any of those things but if it gets to the point where all you want is validation from others because there's a different kind of emptiness inside of you then that's a completely different problem and no amount of likes on your selfie is going to fulfill that so just wanted to send you guys some love today and put some I don't know good vibes in your mind's and in your hearts today to remind you that the second you decide you want to be healthier the second you decide you want to make better choices it's the moment you can enjoy a healthier relationship with food you guys healthy relationship with food does not need to be excessive binges or excessive restrictions it's about balance it's about enjoying food like I said food is fuel but food is also love I do not believe that we were given all of these amazing foods and flavors and texture and colors and food if food was not meant to be something that was a form of love so I wanted just to send you guys with some positivity today and just to think about some of the things I've said so I want to thank you all for watching I want to encourage you guys to be patient and last but not least to trust the process take care guys see in the next one

  1. Right on time! Love your videos

  2. Forgive me if I’m just not getting it…. so is a healthy relationship with food being able to eating whatever you want when you want and not feeling bad about it? Or is it recognizing that nutrient dense foods are going to fuel your body but a piece of cheese cake or bowl of ice cream a few times a week should be savored without guilt? Everyone talks about a healthy relationship with food, but what does it look like? Wouldn’t not caring how you look or comparing yourself on social media be a mind-body relationship?

  3. All is said here. I wish more people will watch this video.

  4. Love this. When I was younger I could eat whatever I wanted etc but my eating habits were all horrid and it caused me to break out in rashes etc I was deficient in so many macronutrients. Took me years to get to where I am now and even two years of relapsing from having a healthy relationship with food where it was yoyo dieting and binge eating myself into despair. But now I eat to nourish my cells and soul and eating good food is a sign of self care.

  5. So true eat the right foods because you love yourself!!! BOOM!!! Right there!!! 💯💯

  6. I have the WORST relationship with food ever since I was little I ate to deal with my child abuse I went through so losing weight for me goes alot deeper then just eating right.

  7. THIS. Thank you so much Christine.

  8. This needs to go viral!

  9. Thank you so much for this video❤️

  10. Hey another great video!!! Thanks for inspiring me to make my own YouTube channel! Your the best Christine! Love from Canada 🇨🇦

  11. So true.

  12. I LOVE.LOVE.LOVE this video! This changed my mind today. ♡

  13. I've been working on this lately. Loving my imperfect body. I think that's the key to achieving a better body. It all starts in the mind!

  14. Confession – I buy all of the healthy food at the grocery store, but end up eating out (unhealthy food) anyway. ☹️ Ultimate lie to myself. It’s so hard.

  15. I was struggling these past days with my self image, but from what you're saying I DO have a healthy relationship with food! What a relief! 💪🏼

  16. I felt like you were speaking to me today,. 😭❤️

  17. On point girl!

  18. Thank you so much for posting this! Great insights 🙂

  19. This is my biggest struggle. I needed to hear this today.

  20. Yaaassss I love how you approach to this topic

  21. Found your channel not too long ago, so glad I did ♥️ you are a breath of fresh air, thank you for being you! Xxx

  22. So I know it's a lot of work to put out these short little videos. Just wanted to say thanks I really like them. I have been on the food and weight struggle bus since middle school when I was made aware that I was overweight. I'm full of excuses, as many people are. But these videos help me set myself up for A-day of success. day by day. I actually just froze all of the leftover wine from last night you save it for sangria for the 4th of July! Without this video, I would have drank it this afternoon after I was done planting, chilling in my back yard.

  23. And if food were only for fuel & not to be enjoyed why were we given a complex muscular organ in our mouth to taste, and feel texture? And all the pleasurable signals going to our brains? Like you the point you made Christine. 👍🏽

  24. Self esteem is a huge issue for most…and then constantly comparing themselves in social media, piles up on the existing issues. Thank you for contribuing with such a positive message. 💚 "Treat yourself as if you already are enough. Walk as if you are enough. Eat as if you are enough. See, look, listen as if you are enough. Because it's true."

  25. Just what I needed. You're great at what you do!

  26. Just what I needed. You're great at what you do!

  27. Omg I needed this. ❤

  28. I feel like I’ve been living in fear since I became vegan in 2013. It’s so sad to the point where I don’t have a good relationship with food.

  29. "Trust the Process"…

  30. This is really good as I've struggled with food addiction for years #selflove #selfcare #truehealth

  31. Thank you for helping us acknowledge the bigger connection. You are saving lives with these videos. 💐

  32. It's true… what we show on social media doesn't necessarily show what our personal relationship with healthy eating is. I often post about my vegetarian dinner meals on my insta stories (@this.is.posh), but eating that way isn't always a daily thing and often motivated by when my bf cooks as he is way more committed to health. I'm still working on my relationship with food, so thanks so much for this vid today x

  33. yay first commmenter! thanks for the vid x
