service with 850 beds across four main sites on the beautiful Mornington
Peninsula. We provide opportunities from intern through
to advanced training level for your career progression or to complete
your specialist training. The medical program at Peninsula Health can
offer you opportunities in many clinical units across our acute hospitals and our geriatric
and rehabilitation facilities. Across our sites trainees work in a range
of specialities which provide a well-rounded foundation for doctors to build on in the early stages of their career. These rotations include cardiology, in which you have the opportunity to work in one the
busiest Cath Labs in the state. and the Intensive Care Unit,
where we provide specialised care for patients with life threatening conditions
in our state-of-the-art purpose built unit. Emergency where you can work in one of the
most busiest and most dynamic Emergency Departments in Victoria.
Our innovative team based care means you will work hand in hand with emergency specialists
to diagnose and treat patients with a wide range of injuries and illnesses. And women’s health. Another growing area of our health service.Last year we delivered 3000 babies. We’re also expanding our gynaecology services, providing exciting opportunities for doctors to be part of our team.
We’re changing the way we deliver services for local women on the Peninsula. We also have an excellent surgical training program. We have 10 operating rooms here at Frankston, one at Rosebud, and plans for several more
as part of the Frankston Hospital redevelopment. Join our team to work alongside and learn
from some of the best surgeons across eight surgical specialities. We also have a Paediatric service at Peninsula Health. The work varies greatly. From caring for a newborn in the Special Care Nursery, to heading to the community to see children with developmental concerns at local schools and meeting the needs of adolescents
on the medical ward. Every day is truly different. At Peninsula Health we have a dynamic team of clinical and academic geriatricians.
They provide a fantastic setting for the development of future leaders and geriatric medicine. There is great clinical support and the consultants here are leaders in their fields and are always on hand to provide support and advice. I really enjoy working at Peninsula Health
where we’re training some of the brightest young doctors in the country.
Our trainees are exposed to a diverse and complex range of clinical problems.
We teach them how to think critically and problem solve
in a broad range of clinical scenarios. Every day for me is rewarding and challenging.
Rotations can involve caring for patients on the ward
as well as seeing patients in outpatient clinics. We also run training in the Simulation Centre
where doctors can hone their technical skills and also their inter-personal skills.
The structured teaching program provides the trainees with guidance
And necessary help to navigate their exams and move on to the next the later stages of
their career. In partnership with Monash University we have an excellent research program here at Peninsula Health and we encourage and assist trainees to engage in this program
Medical staff can participate in research that influences best practise
at a national and international level. I first joined Peninsula Health to do my specialist
training. Over the last twenty years I have been given
a multitude of great opportunities to help develop and advance in my career.
Now I’m proud to able to be able to mentor the next generation of medical professionals
and help them develop their careers. Despite being a large health service, Peninsula
Health still has a supportive and collegiate feel.
It’s lovely to see smiling familiar faces every morning I come into work. We have a dedicated team of support staff here to help our doctors with any challenges
they may face professionally and personally. As well as the excellent training program,
