How to Eat Healthy (5 Easy Steps)

In this video, I’m going to teach you How
to Eat Healthy, as well as what to eat… So you can achieve the kind of body and
health you WANT and more importantly DESERVE… So let’s get started! [INTRO] If you’re like most people, you probably understand
the importance of eating healthy food, however there’s a good chance that you may be a bit
confused when it comes to HOW to eat healthy… As well as what specific types of food to eat… There’s just so much information out
there these days And the funny thing is… Many of these so-called “fad diets” contradict each
other – so it’s hard to decipher what’s actually healthy, and what’s not. However, over the years… I’ve been able to dig deeper into this subject
and really try to figure out what’s actually healthy, and what’s not… So i’d like to give you a little breakdown
of what I’ve learned so far… And how you can start to eat healthy yourself… As well as the types of foods you should eat
to support your health, body, mind, and fitness goals STEP 1 – READ FOOD LABELS & INGREDIENTS Chakra here! The key to eating healthy is not to eat bad thingsss What are bad things? That is the question… Firstly, you should become familiar with reading
food labels and the list of ingredients on each of the packaged food items you purchase
at the grocery store. As I mentioned in one of my first videos on
how to get a six-pack – It’s important to learn how to read food labels
so you can properly calculate how many calories are in each serving, as well as the macronutrient
breakdown. Being able to calculate and be in control
of the amount and type of calories you consume throughout the day is an important step to
eating healthy, and maintaining a great body. Also, you should always read the ingredients
list so you can actually see what’s in the food you’re eating… A good rule of thumb to follow is – if there are too many ingredients that you
can’t pronounce, or don’t understand – it’s probably not too healthy for you. Many packaged and processed food items contain
so many harmful preservatives and ingredients that it’s definitely better to not consume
them in the first place! Stuff like various kinds of harmful preservatives
which can go by various names. Artificial food colours, MSG, artificial sweeteners,
hydrogenated oils, and high fructose corn syrup to name a few… Unfortunately, most of those ingredient I
just mentioned can probably be found in 90% of the packaged food items at your local grocery store… Which is why it’s crucially important to firstly
become aware of what you should look out for, and to also do some more research on each
of the harmful ingredients. Many of these ingredients are toxic to the
body, and are also linked to various conditions such as cancer, metabolic syndrome, diabetes,
heart problems, and too many more to name.. Many of them, such as high fructose corn syrup
will also make it much harder to lose stubborn belly fat, and reach your fitness goals! So, If you see any of these ingredients in
the foods you currently eat, it’s probably better to feed them to the trash, and replace
them with healthier, more natural options instead. The less and more natural the ingredients,
the better! STEP 2 – LIMIT CARBS Carbs can be quite a controversial topic in
the fitness industry these days, as many fitness experts are proponents of high carb diets,
and many prefer low carb diets, while some promote virtually ZERO carb diets! So who’s right when it comes to this topic? THAT my friends, is the question… (*maybe use chakra scene* here) I’ll probably make a separate LOW CARBS vs.
LOW FAT video in the future to better explain my personal opinion, as well as some of the
history involved… However, I do personally believe that focusing
on eating healthier FATS might be a better option – but I’ll get to that in a second… At the end of the day, did you know that your
body doesn’t really need carbs anyways, as it isn’t even an essential nutrient..? That’s ACTUALLY true! Now, you may be thinking to yourself, WAIT A SECOND… Don’t you NEED CARBS so your body can covert
it to glucose for energy? Well, technically – the answer is NO. As long as you have a healthy liver, it’ll
produce whatever glucose your system needs from dietary fats and protein. You don’t NEED to consume carbs for that. Also, virtually all carbohydrates trigger
your pancreas to secrete a hormone called insulin, almost immediately after being consumed. Some types of sugary, sweet, or refined carbs,
also known as high-glycemic or fast-digesting carbs will usually cause the quickest and
biggest insulin spikes… While other low-glycemic or slower-digesting
carbs such as whole grains or oatmeal will cause more of a slower and more gradual insulin spike. And if you’ve watched some of my previous
videos, you’ll know that Insulin is definitely a hormone that you’ll want to keep under control if your goal is to lose belly fat and stay
lean. Since one of Insulin’s main roles is to stop
your body from burning fat, and store it instead. Which is why, if you do consume carbs, the
preferred source would definitely be the low-glycemic or slow-digesting ones for most of the day. The only exception, is immediately after an
intense workout. That’s pretty much the only time you may actually
benefit from consuming more of a high-glycemic or faster digesting carb source. That being said, many types of carbohydrates,
can also promote and lead to inflammation in your body… Which can subsequently lead to many health
issues and diseases overtime. So the point is, it’s probably in your best
interest to greatly limit the amount of carbs you consume on a daily basis. I’m not suggesting to cut them out completely,
as I do believe there is a place and time to consume and cycle certain sources of carbs
in moderation, and at the right times. But if one of you’re main focuses is leading
a healthy lifestyle and diet – you’d probably be better off putting more
of your focus on quality sources of protein and FATS instead. The only source of carbs and and fibre you
shouldn’t really limit are those from vegetables and it’s important to eat LOTS of them throughout the day. And also a few fruits, such as apples, berries,
and grapefruits, since they’re full of antioxidants, and other great vitamins. Otherwise, if you do add some portions of
carbs to your meals throughout the day, make make sure to opt for the healthier, low-glycemic
options, such as quinoa, brown rice, and yams. At the end of the day, if you don’t need it
– DON’T eat it! STEP 3 – DON’T BE SCARED OF GOOD FATS [BLEEP] It’s just an Avocado. Don’t be scared of good fats my friends. Don’t be scared to eating good fats. You need good fats if you want to be so pretty and healthy… Just like meee. Chakra hereee. As I just alluded to in the previous step,
good fats can be a much healthier substitution for most carbs – even though most people were
taught to believe fats are BAD… Well, they’re not – and there’s no reason
to be scared of consuming them, as long as you consume the good kinds. And unlike carbs, FAT is actually an essential
nutrient that you NEED to get from your diet… Not just so you can lead a healthier lifestyle,
but more importantly to survive! So trying to cut out all fats from your diet
would not only be detrimental to your health and fitness goals, but it could actually be
downright dangerous! And the funny things is, that by consuming
enough good fats in your diet on a daily basis, you’ll actually have a much easier time LOSING FAT! I know that sounds like a contradiction, but
it’s totally true! And there’s also a large number of other benefits
to consuming healthy fats in your diet, but that’s probably a topic for another video! However, as I mentioned in one of my earlier
videos on how to get a six-pack, It’s important that you track the amount of fats you consume
throughout the day… As each gram of fat contains more than DOUBLE
the amount of calories found in each gram of carbs or protein. So, you’ll need to make sure that you fit
your fats into your macronutrient breakdown, and total calories for the day. Since you don’t want to end up storing that
fat by consuming TOO much of it, and exceeding your caloric limit for the day…. So make sure you get enough healthy fats in
your diet, and just be sure to track how much your consuming! STEP 4 – EAT A VARIETY OF FOODS Eating the same foods over and over again
can obviously get boring after a while, but did you know that you can also end up developing
some allergies and intolerances to those foods as well? Also, you might end up becoming deficient
in certain minerals, vitamins, or nutrients if you simply stick to the same bland eating
routine day in and day out… Eating the same exact foods repetitively isn’t
always the best option. It’s best to eat a variety of healthy foods
in your diet, and not follow the same cookie cutter nutrition plan day in and day out! Make sure to switch up your sources of proteins,
fats, and vegetables on a regular basis. And you should also introduce some fermented
foods into your diet as they are rich in probiotics, and very good for maintaining proper gut health… Be creative, and try new foods every now and
then. And don’t be scared to spice things up a bit… Literally! There are many health benefits to consuming
a variety of spices in your diet, and they also help make your food taste great! So if you’re one of those people that eat
the same things every day, (and I must admit, I’m guilty of this too…) Then it’s time to switch things up, and add
some variety to your diet! STEP 5 – EAT ORGANIC & NON-GMO FOODS It’s Uncle Billy here! And he grows his own organic fruits and vegetables in his own garden. If you can’t do that… Ride your horsey all the way to the organic shop, and get your organic, and non-GMO foods. It’ll be well worth it my friends. Yeeehhaawwww – Unlce Billy knows everythaang. The final step to eating healthy, is to try your
best to only consume organic and non-GMO foods on a regular basis. Now, I know this might be easier said than
done for many of you watching this video right now, as Organic food usually costs substantially
more than non-organic foods… And some of you may not even have access to
a wide variety of Organic food, depending on where you live. If you do have access to it and you’re
able to afford it, you should definitely do your best to try and only consume certified
organic foods. If you’re unable to currently afford organic
food, work towards budgeting some more money aside until you’re able to afford it… Or simply start switching over to organic
fruits and vegetables first, as the difference in cost isn’t as substantial as when it comes
to purchasing organic meats, chicken, and fish… But the extra money you’d be spending on organic
food will definitely be worth every penny to your overall health. And at the end of the day, if you don’t have
your health – you don’t have much – so this isn’t an area you should be stingy on. That being said, there are so many benefits
to replacing your current food with Organic foods instead, and I’ve already mentioned
some of them in a few of my previous videos… But, some of those benefits are that Certified
Organic foods don’t contain dangerous things like, Hormones, Antibiotics, Pesticides, Herbicides,
GMO’s, contaminated fertilizers, and chemicals… The point is, all of these things can be very
detrimental and dangerous to your health over time, and you’re definitely better without
them in your diet, or body. If you have the ability and space to grow
some of your own organic fruits and vegetables, that would be ideal, and would also save you
a bunch of money in the long run. However, if you’re not able to grow a variety
of your own fruits and veggies, you should definitely do your best to buy some instead. Also, when it comes beef, and dairy products
– always try to choose the organic grass-fed option as opposed to grain-fed option if you’re able to afford it. Grass-fed meat and dairy contains less overall
fat content, about 4 times more vitamin E, and about double the amount of healthy Omega
3 fatty acids, and CLA of that found in the grain-fed option. So it’s definitely the best option for your
overall health! In summary, the best way to eat healthy to
first become familiar with reading food labels, limit your carb intake, start eating more
good fats in your diet, make sure you eat a variety of nutritious foods, and always
choose the organic food option when you can! Hope you learned a lot, and enjoyed watching
