  1. Sounds like a sub rosa vegan propagandist! “Spirits” milquetoast term and unscientific!

"The low-fat, high-carbohydrate diet… may well have played an unintended role in the current epidemics of obesity, lipid abnormalities, type 2 diabetes, and metabolic syndromes. This diet can no longer be defended by appeal to the authority of prestigious medical organizations."

  2. Eat seafood, the oceans are polluted. Seafood is high in cholesterol. Eat oysters, it can kill you.

  3. I stopped watching at the word "spirit".

  4. Yes, that’s it, it is the industry of food and agriculture.. they changed it 100 years ago..! What to do now..?

  5. This is also awesome because shes not advocating a dramatic 180, its things that even hard-core meat eaters can manage

  6. I thought this was excellent. Avoiding processed foods, vegan or not, seems to be key. I guess some missed that you mentioned wild salmon which have less heavy metal contamination. Sardines are also supposed to be great for healthy omegas.

  9. UC is waisting our tax payer dollars. Evidence shows a whole foods, plant based diet eliminates these problems. Why waste a bunch of resources tiptoeing around the issue. Eliminate meat, dairy and especially eggs from our diets. As she mentions the drugs are not effective especially when considering the side effects. UC needs a dept dedicated to fighting these industries and promoting a healthy diet for all of us and really we all eat can eat the same thing.

  10. I appreciate this presentation on a great topic, clear and easy to follow.

Noticed the table @ 53:14 lists amount of sugar in tsp for various foods but it looks like that should have been grams (divide all the numbers by approx. 4 to get the number of teaspoons). Also, Ms. Newman probably misspoke re: Heritage Flakes, the grams of sugar are as listed on her table, and my cereal box – 4 grams of sugar per 3/4 cup serving.

I think it will be helpful with new labeling to see the ADDED sugars in processed foods, especially dairy foods like yogurt so that the milk sugars can be distinguished from the added sugars.

  11. thanks brilliant talk understood things

  12. So you avoid beef/some animal products or at least not mention them in the recommendation etc. because it has cholesterol/saturated fats and raises ones LDL-(small particle)….but you recommend fish that contains heavy metals and cholesterol/saturated fats……logic = not existent

there are other sources for ALA /DHA etc. like they mention ….so why recommend animal products

also "gras finished" beef /animal products are not sustainable as the United Nations and many other institutes concluded
