well okay let's talk about another macro food group and that being the vegetable food group remember I suggested three to five servings a day I would also suggest you shoot for the upper number five servings a day we know from population studies that have that generous amounts of vegetables and fruits in their diet they enjoy great longevity and and very good health so these are the superstars of nutrition the vegetable food group and most people a lot of people I should say maybe only get a couple of servings a week sometimes that's the only French fries but I would have you think vegetables and/or fruits every meal see how you could work them into your diet maybe get a recipe book another good way to get them into your diet is to do some fresh juicing you can kill several servings just by one or two glasses of vegetable juice so a juicer is a good investment for your health we need these vegetables for the carotenoids and for the fiber here is one group the cruciferous vegetable family which includes broccoli cauliflower brussel sprouts and cabbage these have sulfur compounds that are wonderful for liver detoxification fighting cancer and so on but try and get variety in your diet try a new vegetable every week I'd like you to have raw vegetables as well as cooked vegetables in your diet another thing you can do to get them into your diet as maybe used raw vegetable sticks and pieces cut them up put them in a little ziplock bag have them in your fridge ready to go take with you for lunches a few suggestions for you I would say would be a try vegetable soup you know a vegetable soup would be another way to get your quota for vegetables just whatever you have in the fridge you can experiment to some of the best soup I ever made was just by using all sorts of miscellaneous vegetables that I had in the refrigerator all you have to do is boil about four cups of water cut up all the vegetables into nice little bite-sized pieces and boil it for about 15-20 minutes and you have very good delicious vegetable soup so that's the vegetable group remember try and get at least three a day more like five servings per day work them in every meal

  1. The only vegetables I eat are green beans, broccoli, baked beans, carrots and peas.

  2. can I eat unlimited vegetables? Because I currently eat about 12 servings a day. Though I don't eat too much else. Also, is the amount of fructose in vegetables a reason to limit vegetable intake?

  4. Fruit and vegetable juices count as a serving too. Even a serving of beans counts. It's easier than you think to get your daily quota.
    One Banana or 1/2 cup of berries with cereal and one cup of healthy fruit or veg juice = 2
    a two cup salad with a sandwich for lunch = 2 servings
    one cup serving of veg with dinner and a piece of fruit after = 2 servings
    There you go – 6 servings. Not so bad, eh? Enjoy nature's bounty and eat up.
