Taking care of your mouth, teeth and gums is important for many reasons. In addition to preventing bad breath, tooth decay and
gum disease – a healthy mouth can also help you to stay well and fight off disease. Studies show that gum disease may increase your risk of serious health problems such as heart attack, stroke, poorly controlled diabetes and preterm labor. As a Health First Colorado (Colorado’s Medicaid Program) member you or your loved one can get the dental services needed to be healthy. Dental services are a covered benefit for
Health First Colorado members of all ages. For more information about children’s dental benefits for members under age 21 visit Colorado.gov/HCPF/Dental-Benefits As an adult member of Health First Colorado, you get up to $1,000 in dental services each year from July 1 to June 30. Some of your
covered services include: basic preventive dental exams, diagnostic
and restorative dental services (such as x-rays and fillings), extractions (tooth pulling),
root canals, crowns, and partial and complete dentures (not subject to the $1,000 cap per year). Other procedures may require prior authorization, which means your dentist or provider will need to complete a form or make a phone call to approve.
