A Healthy Wheat Berry Breakfast : Healthy Meals

i'm elora cipolla registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator we're making a hearty healthy breakfast with wheat berries today you need one small apple chopped and leave the skin on you need 1 tablespoon of chia seeds 2 tablespoons of walnuts 1/2 cup of cooked wheat berries 6 ounces of Greek yogurt preferably a lower fat or fat-free Greek yogurt 1 tablespoon of wheat germ and blueberries to make our healthy wheat berry salad we're going to add the Greek yogurt to the apples a Greek yogurt is good for somebody with diabetes insulin resistance or even trying to manage their weight being that it's higher in protein and lower in carbs it actually helps to regulate your blood sugar and leaves you feeling full longer then next you want to add your wheat berries you can leave these in your refrigerator and make them ahead of time and this way every morning you can grab your wheat berries and just make your quick parfait add your chia seeds these are high in omega-3s and omega-6s you want to eat chia seeds if you're following a low processed diet and endor how being a vegetarian then you want to add your wheat germ this is good for somebody that's pregnant or even kids or anyone that needs a lot of vitamin B I guess especially those that are highly stressed add your walnuts again more fiber and vitamins and finally you can add your blueberries we're using our Driscoll blueberries because you can get them all season and they're always fresh and delicious and there you have it you have your wheat berry healthy breakfast I'm Laura Cibolo registered dietitian certified diabetes educator today we made a healthy we berry breakfast for more information on eating healthy visit us on facebook at laura subpool Oh whole nutrition services you
