10-MIN KARATE WORKOUT FOR KATA (FOLLOW ALONG!)

In today’s video, you and I are gonna practice
kata together for 10 minutes. We’re gonna start with
three minutes of warming up. Then we’re gonna do six
minutes of kata practice divided into three different sequences. And it doesn’t matter what style you practice or what belt you have. As long as you know one kata, you can follow along. Then finally, we’re gonna do
one minute of cooling down. I’m Jesse from karatebyjesse.com, a.k.a “The Karate Nerd”. And this is a 10 minutes kata workout. Let’s get started. Now it’s time for you to choose your kata. We’re gonna do three different sequences of two minutes each from your kata. You’re gonna pick one sequence from the beginning of the kata, one from the middle and one from the end of the kata. And every sequence should be
about five to ten movements, and then we’re gonna alternate
these slowly and fast. When you do the slow version, I want you to focus on correct technique and when you do it fast I want you to focus on speed and power. Now let’s get started
with the first sequence. Now that you practiced your kata, you can either go to the cool down, which is next, or pick another kata and repeat these six
minutes of training again. It’s totally up to you, but now, let’s lower the activation level of our central nervous system and our heart rate by cooling down. And that concludes the
10 minute kata workout. If you wanna see more videos like this, leave a comment and let me know. Until next time, train hard, good luck and have fun!

  10. As a martial hobbyist, I loved this! Not a lot of (if any) real-time kata/form practice workouts out there. Great job!!

  11. Jesse! I would LOVE to see more videos like this!
Home practice class on all kihon, kata and kumite would be great! Or even each one individually.
    Arigatou gozaimasu!

  12. Super 👍 These kind of full session of training video are very helpfull when you’re training alone (especially when confined at home 🙃😎). Would really love to see more of this content. Thank you again Jesse san 👊👊

  13. Awesome! A good way to get some easy practice in when you have some spare time. Thanks Sensei.

  14. Great at home exercise, which reminds me that having our warm up exercises in book or paper form could really be helpful sometimes… and alot better than some of the extreme stretching sessions for box splits in shaolin kung fu for hip instability? and side thrust kicks? and stuff… I don't know, but that's the story I'm going with anyway, lol… still moving and in the car right now though… almost nothing other than adrenaline could tire me out faster than karate…

  15. Yes!!! My hero!

  16. Great video. The karate portion is fantastic as always, but beyond that – Your dojo looks amazing! The facility that you train in is the nicest that I’ve ever seen.

  17. Whats the name of that kata? Thank you sensei for giving us this video

  18. Hi Jessie, great video! What's the music that you're using?

  19. Amazing how people neglect the kata. I am currently brown and white belt and part of my brown and red belt grading is to do tekki shodan. After that we are then asked to do any kata from the previous 6.

  20. Here you have a fan from Peru. I like your karate videos!

  21. What is the name of this song that plays when you play the sequences?!!!

  28. Sensei Jesse! Great idea, keep em coming! Can you tell me what artist is playing this music or where I can get it? It sounds great!

  29. GOD bless you brother. Thank you for all you do. I appreciate you!

  30. Beautiful Jesse. But are the knee circles a safe way to practice. As per some Yoga experts it gradually disturbs the alignment of knee at the later age.

  31. This is great, thank you for putting this together. I am going to do this workout today.

  32. This is an excellent idea. I have a suggestion for another practice video, how about one on 基本 (kihon), in particular, 浮身 (ukimi, not to be confused with u-KE-mi).

  33. I like this kata video. What is the name of the background music during the kata?

  34. No los veo porque solo hablo español.
No entiendo las explicaciones en inglés 😟😭😭😭

  35. This is something that I can definitely do, especially since we're on quarantine xD

  36. Very good workout. Is like the one I do, only I add man to man bunkai.

  37. Great video and workout with the music. I’ll try it tomorrow here at home. Have to follow the lockdown.
A workout for shadow boxing/kumite would be nice. Thank you Sensei Jesse!

  49. Hi, Jesse. I was wondering about White crane kung fu is there any similarity with wing chun?

  50. Good morning. Which kate was that, please? Maybe it is a good ideia you to give us the kata's name you use as a exemplo. But it is complete up to you.

  51. I liked the look of that kata could you tell me what it is please, oh and definitely one of you best clips

  52. Jesse enkamp i do this at my home like yours my father teaches me this workout

  53. make some shotokan katas

  54. Is it me or there are lot of feeling of kung fu in sequence 1 Did you really get some idea or principles from China in that little time Jesse san? Ah by the way I mean it feels more kung fu feeling then japanese kata for me i wonder why? I know roots come from there but never get feeling as much as right now and only in first sequence, i can feel in movements and body form ohh by the way your shiko dachi feeling different from old one too

  55. Sensei, i like your instrumental background. Whats the title of it. I think it can also improve my kata rythm. Thank you Ossu!

  56. Thank you Jesse!!! A komplette kata,… Sadly that is not that easy. I've no dedicated dojo at home ,… I have a traditional Japanese bedroom, that means I roll up my futon every morning. But my bedroom / tatami room is just 6 tatami large. What I do normaly,… I put the katas into places and do it front and backwards. (Accept tecki nidan and tecki sandan) 😂 And sometimes I do a step backward instead a step forward, just to not run into a wall and do the propper technik.

  57. EXCELLENT! Jesse Sensei, at the moment I'm teaching my wife Naihanchi Shodan and I know that this will help. Thanks!

  58. You have so much precision and patience to do this! I also LOVE the choice of music for the exercise. I wish i could find it 😂

  67. Thank you, sir. Great workout and a brand new way to practice kata. Do you have any workouts to practice kicking techniques?

  68. This is great. I set my timer 2 to 3 times and have gotten 30 minutes of kata in today! Thank you so much, great for moral.

  69. Is that taiko drumming in the background?

  70. Thanks again Jesse,San. Question: where can I download the shakuhachi flute music from?

  71. Jesse ur the best karate kid

  72. 10- 30 minutes of Tai ji (Wudang, Yang, or Chen ) with Fajin or Shaolin 13 Luohan, white crane hard and soft qiqong would be helpful, consider the Sanchin kata with Isometric power and deep breathing. 1) Anything that can help boost your immune system. You can start with 5 – 30 minutes deep breathing in a horse stance to focus the mind then loosen up followed by whatever exercise you prefer.

  73. Hola😉 Profe Jesse saludos desde Argentina Excelente su video . 😘Besos👍

  74. What is the music instrument or the instrumental song that is played at 4:21?

  75. Thank you Jesse, this is what I needed ❤️ It felt almost as if I was back in the dojo 😄💪🏻

  76. Sensi Jesse….In this health crisis we all have, I have one question. In Chinese Kung Fu we learn " chi kung ", you most likely call it " Ki " or something similar. Would this type of energy exercise help build the immune system at the very least? I have studyed for over 41 years now and my Sifu taught us to do some amazing things. I was just wondering if this exercise would fight off anything that would do harm? (I feel bad for not keeping up on your video classes, the barometric pressure is giving me head aches and messing with my diabetic blood sugar level! I hope to be watching soon. You are a very good teacher! )

  77. Bro please upload more kata form

  78. This really helped me analyse my Long Form 3. (American Kenpo Karate)

  79. Nice. Would also be cool to teach a full kata in segments and make it in to a series

  80. Thank you!
