In today’s video, you and I are gonna practice
kata together for 10 minutes. We’re gonna start with
three minutes of warming up. Then we’re gonna do six
minutes of kata practice divided into three different sequences. And it doesn’t matter what style you practice or what belt you have. As long as you know one kata, you can follow along. Then finally, we’re gonna do
one minute of cooling down. I’m Jesse from karatebyjesse.com, a.k.a “The Karate Nerd”. And this is a 10 minutes kata workout. Let’s get started. Now it’s time for you to choose your kata. We’re gonna do three different sequences of two minutes each from your kata. You’re gonna pick one sequence from the beginning of the kata, one from the middle and one from the end of the kata. And every sequence should be
about five to ten movements, and then we’re gonna alternate
these slowly and fast. When you do the slow version, I want you to focus on correct technique and when you do it fast I want you to focus on speed and power. Now let’s get started
with the first sequence. Now that you practiced your kata, you can either go to the cool down, which is next, or pick another kata and repeat these six
minutes of training again. It’s totally up to you, but now, let’s lower the activation level of our central nervous system and our heart rate by cooling down. And that concludes the

Great at home exercise, which reminds me that having our warm up exercises in book or paper form could really be helpful sometimes… and alot better than some of the extreme stretching sessions for box splits in shaolin kung fu for hip instability? and side thrust kicks? and stuff… I don't know, but that's the story I'm going with anyway, lol… still moving and in the car right now though… almost nothing other than adrenaline could tire me out faster than karate…

  19. Amazing how people neglect the kata. I am currently brown and white belt and part of my brown and red belt grading is to do tekki shodan. After that we are then asked to do any kata from the previous 6.

  30. Beautiful Jesse. But are the knee circles a safe way to practice. As per some Yoga experts it gradually disturbs the alignment of knee at the later age.

Ah by the way I mean it feels more kung fu feeling then japanese kata for me i wonder why? I know roots come from there but never get feeling as much as right now and only in first sequence, i can feel in movements and body form ohh by the way your shiko dachi feeling different from old one too

  56. Thank you Jesse!!! A komplette kata,… Sadly that is not that easy. I've no dedicated dojo at home ,… I have a traditional Japanese bedroom, that means I roll up my futon every morning. But my bedroom / tatami room is just 6 tatami large. What I do normaly,… I put the katas into places and do it front and backwards. (Accept tecki nidan and tecki sandan) 😂 And sometimes I do a step backward instead a step forward, just to not run into a wall and do the propper technik.

  72. 10- 30 minutes of Tai ji (Wudang, Yang, or Chen ) with Fajin or Shaolin 13 Luohan, white crane hard and soft qiqong would be helpful, consider the Sanchin kata with Isometric power and deep breathing. 1) Anything that can help boost your immune system. You can start with 5 – 30 minutes deep breathing in a horse stance to focus the mind then loosen up followed by whatever exercise you prefer.

  76. Sensi Jesse….In this health crisis we all have, I have one question. In Chinese Kung Fu we learn " chi kung ", you most likely call it " Ki " or something similar. Would this type of energy exercise help build the immune system at the very least? I have studyed for over 41 years now and my Sifu taught us to do some amazing things. I was just wondering if this exercise would fight off anything that would do harm? (I feel bad for not keeping up on your video classes, the barometric pressure is giving me head aches and messing with my diabetic blood sugar level! I hope to be watching soon. You are a very good teacher! )

    What I do is that I practice kyokushin karate at home I know a little bit of kyokushin karate kata and I love to focus on the kyokushin karate kumite

  97. How about a video in doing Kata in small spaces. Like students at home in their living rooms. Most people do not have big areas to perform kata. How would you explain how to practice when space is very limited. Maybe a square that is 6'x6'
